We have a very busy time coming up at the Club. The events scheduled for the next three months are outlined below.
SUNDAY FEBRUARY 3 MONTHLY CLUB MEETING
Our monthly club meeting will be a BYO barbecue at Dean Johnson’s American River Airstrip on Kangaroo Island. The airstrip is shown on the Adelaide VNC at YJOH (Johnson’s Airstrip). The location is S35 48.6 E137 44.0 and is within the Kingscote CTAF which operates on 126.0 but local pilots use 126.7 at YJOH.
There are four runways:
RWY 03/21 750 m (This strip is Parallel to the road and power lines)
RWY 07/25 800 m
RWY 14/32 750 m
RWY 16/34 1000 m
We will plan to depart Aldinga at 10:30.
To date, there are 7 club aircraft planning to attend..
MARCH 9 – 11 CLUB FLY AWAY
Our first fly away for the year is to The Grampians. The programme for the weekend is:
SATURDAY 9 MARCH
12:00 Arrive at YHSM
12:30 Lunch with Horsham Flying Club
Optional trial glider flights (Cost TBA)
15:30 Bus departs airport
Visit Giant Koala

SUNDAY 10 MARCH
09:00 Bus departs motel for Grampians sightseeing. Visit Mackenzie Falls, Reeds Lookout, lunch at Brambuk Natinal Park and Cultural Centre, The Balconies, Boroka Lookout, return to Horsham
19:00 Poolside barbecue at motel
MONDAY 11 MARCH
09:00 Bus departs motel for Horsham Public Arts and Heritage Walk
11:00 Depart Horsham for Aldinga OR optional stop for lunch at Kingston
COSTS
In addition to the motel costs, we will have to pay for lunches and dinner on Saturday, and for hire of the bus. The estimated cost for the bus is $450.

Security YHSM is not a security controlled airport so an ASIC is not required

Landing charges There is no landing charge
Facilities Men’s and ladies’ toilets open 24 hours at main terminal building along with Coke machine, tea & coffee, water and taxi phone.
SATURDAY MARCH 16
Our annual hangar film night will be held in Ted Goodfellow’s hangar. There will be a BYO barbecue at the club commencing at 7:000 pm, after which we will move to the hangar for the film. Drtails of the mocie to be screened will be published on the web site when available.
SUNDAY APRIL 7
This will be our annual Club charity day. As usual, we will be offering free local flights to a group of disadvantaged children and their parents/carers as well as a free barbecue lunch. We will need as many club members as possible to help out with aircraft for the flights as well as organising the passengers and preparing the barbecue.
WEDNESDAY APRIL 10

SATURDAY APRIL 13
Fly in to Loxton for Loxton Aero Club fly in and hangar dinner. Proceeds from the day will be donated to Angel Flight and we will be making a short presentation about Angel Flight at the dinner. For details, go to http://loxtonaero.com/information.pdf.
This is not an official club event but it would be great to have a good roll up of members and aircraft to support Angel Flight and the Loxton Aero Club.
SUNDAY APRIL 14
The Barossa Air Show follows the Loxton fly in. Again, this is not an official club event but members are encouraged to attend and support other local flying clubs and activities. For details, go to http://www.barossaairshow.com.au/.
